Term	Definition
3 Dots Menu	The 3 Dots Menu is located to the right of each column in every grid that opens to give further options for sorting, filtering and the ability to add and remove the current columns being viewed. This is also known as an ellipsis or kebab menu.
Action Window	The window that opens when a specific function is initiated that requires details to be entered.
Adjustment	A reported change in the quantity of packaged inventory, requiring a reason, such as moisture loss or drying.
API (Application Programming Interface)	API is the electronic transfer of information to or from Metrc via the use of Keys generated by Metrc. This includes pushing information, pulling information and getting information from Metrc as needed within the limitations set by Metrc.
Areas	Various places in the software that allow a user to view and/or manage functions in the supply chain dependent on what operation or function that is needed to be performed.
Checkbox	A checkbox is a box that can be selected/deselected to add/remove an option. This includes granting Employee permissions and identifying a new package as a production batch, just to name a few.
Cultivator / Grow / Producer	A Cultivator/Grow/Producer is a licensed business that grows and cultivates plants. This could also include propagating, harvesting, drying & curing, as well as packaging the raw plant material.
Data Import	Data Import is the ability for CSV files to be used to enter information that adds, edits, or updates inventory for a licensed cannabis business. Please refer to the CSV Formatting guide in Metrc Expert for further information for the ability to do data imports in Metrc.
Date	The specific date given by the licensed business designating or transparently reporting when an addition or update was done to the inventory.
Dropdown Menu	These menus are used to navigate a user to the appropriate option under a specific area. The Drop-down Menu is designated by an arrow that points downward to the right of an area on the navigational toolbar where there are multiple options to choose from.
Employee	An individual who works for a Licensed Cannabis business.
External App	The External App is the external third party integrator that the licensed business is utilizing to import the additions and edits into Metrc.
External Transfer	An External Transfer is an electronic transfer to send out product to an external source or to bring in product from an external source. Not all states allow External Transfers. Please refer to your state’s rules and regulations for further information.
Facility Name	The Facility Name is the name of the licensed business that was licensed by the regulating agency.
Field	A Field is an area where information is required to be entered such as the notes field for package adjustments.
Grid	A grid is the page that a user is taken to when selecting an area on the navigational toolbar (i.e. Packages, Transfers, Plants, etc.)
Harvest Batch	A Harvest Batch is a group of plants that are strain specific and physically cut down at the same time or several days depending on your state; they are identified with a unique harvest batch name that normally includes the strain name and date of harvest.
Item	Refers to the name of a product that can be associated to a package.
Item Category	Options that an licensed cannabis business can choose from when creating items to identify the products that businesses will be creating, packaging and or selling. Each Item Category is setup by the regulating agency.
Key Administrator	The owner or designated person who is credentialed into Metrc as the main administrator to set up the account.
License Number	The number that is assigned to a business that is licensed by the state.
Licensed Transfer	A Licensed Transfer is an electronic transfer from one licensed cannabis business to another licensed cannabis business.
Licensee	A business licensed by the State to grow, process, transport, and/or sell cannabis.
Metrc User	An owner or employee of a cannabis business who is granted access to Metrc for the purposes of conducting inventory tracking functions. This should be someone who has successfully completed the training in Metrc Learn.
Navigational toolbar	Long black navigational toolbar that runs from left to right across the top of the screen in Metrc that helps to navigate to the various areas that the user has permission to view and/or manage.
Options	Options are multiple choices from a Dropdown menu that are available in an area on the navigational toolbar.
Package ID Number	A unique serialized number generated by Metrc that is utilized for a package. The Package ID Number along with the licensed cannabis business license number and name is printed on the package tag. This tag is used to track the package in the supply chain inventory for a license cannabis business.
Patient Number	Refers to the patient card number.
Permissions	The abilities granted to employees to view or manage specific areas in the software.
Plant Batch	Plant Batch is the group of immature plants created from either a source plant (mother plant) or package (clones or seeds manifested from another cultivator or propagated internally), or another immature plant batch (tissue culture or clones. Please not that some states may not use the option to create a plant batch from a plant batch.
Plant ID Number	A unique serialized number generated by Metrc that is utilized to identify a plant and/or plant batch. The Plant ID Number along with the licensed cannabis business license number and name is printed on the plant tag. This tag is used to track the plant in the supply chain inventory for a license cannabis business.
Processor/ Manufacturer	A Processor/Manufacturer is a licensed business that processes, extracts, and manufacturers.
Production Batch	The Production Batch indicator is typically used in the following scenarios: Anytime a product changes form physically or chemically Anytime a product changes category Anytime multiple categories are combined Anytime an additive, lipid, flavoring, or terpene is added to a product
Reported Date	The exact date and time that an activity was recorded in Metrc by the user or the third-party system..
Sales Delivery	The Sales Delivery is an off-site sale made by a dispensary/store/retailer to a patient or consumer, if allowed by state rules and regulations.
Sales Delivery Manifest	The Sales Delivery Manifest is the electronic document that is generated by Metrc to document an offsite sale to a patient or consumer, if allowed by state rules and regulations.
Source Package	The Source Package is the product package that is being pulled from to either create a new package containing a new product or repackage the same product into a new package.
Store/Dispensary/Retailer	A Store/Dispensary/Retailer is a licensed business that receives, stores, and sells product to consumers and/or patients.
Test Sample Package	The Test Sample Package is a representative sample that is pulled from a product package and transferred to a testing facility for testing analysis.
Testing Facility	A Testing Facility is a licensed business that has been granted a license by the regulating agency to create transport and analyze test samples in accordance with the regulating agency's rules and regulations. This would include recording test results and uploading a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to Metrc.
Transfer Manifest	The Transfer Manifest is the electronic document that is generated by Metrc to document packages to be transferred from one licensed cannabis business to another licensed cannabis business. It can also be used to receive product into or out of Metrc from an external source, if allowed by the state regulating agency. A physical copy of the manifest should be printed for the transporter to take with them. A digital copy of the manifest will be stored in Metrc.
Transfer Type	The Transfer Type is set up by a regulating agency to designate and allow specific types of transfers. This would include the type, which type of licensed business has access to it and what specific information would be required to be included when creating the transfer. This could include destination gross weight, wholesale amount, etc. These could include but are not limited to Affiliated Transfer, Lab Transfer, unaffiliated Transfer and Wholesale Transfer.
Transporter	The licensed business who is transporting product from an originating licensed business to the receiving licensed business.
User	A User is a person that utilizes Metrc either on the industry, state side, support, or development side.
Wholesaler/ Distributor	A Wholesaler/Distributor is a licensed business that procures, receives, stores, sells and transfers cannabis and cannabis products on behalf of or in conjunction with other licensed businesses.
